The Global Institute of Future Technology (GIFT) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) invites applications for tenure-track or tenured professoriate and research scientist positions at all levels (Assistant, Associate, and Full) in various science, engineering and medical programs, with focuses on Energy, Health and Extreme Manufacturing, including but not limited to: Energy • Advanced energy conversion and storage • Smart connected energy systems • Green energy for sustainable agriculture • Zero-carbon society and governance Health • Ubiquitous perception and vital signal detection • Precision medicine, big data and AI on health • Pharmaceutics apparatus and human enhancement • Brain and neuroscience Extreme Manufacturing Manufacturing materials and devices • With extreme performance • At atomic, molecular and nano scales • Under extreme conditions • Aided by computational science and data analytics GIFT operates a tenure system for faculty evaluation and promotion. A comprehensive start-up package will be provided, including adequate office and laboratory space, as well as moving expenses. Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants must hold a doctorate degree in a related field. SJTU is a world top 100 university, and GIFT(Global institute of future technology) is one institute out of the 33 schools/departments and 12 affiliated hospitals. GIFT at SJTU aims to: establish a world-class faculty in the fields of energy, health, and extreme manufacturing; build a cutting-edge research and teaching platform; carry out the best international scientific research cooperation; and promote interdisciplinary education and research activities. The institute manages endowment funds from various sources, including a recent endowment fund of more than 200 million US dollars. GIFT's second building will be completed in 2024, which will add 50,000 m2 to the existing space of 25,000 m2. The institute expects to experience rapid growth in its faculty size in the near future.
