Hitachi Global Storage Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. was established in Jan 1998, previously named Shenzhen IBM Technology Products Co., Ltd. It changed the company name in June 2003 after the strategic combination of IBM and Hitachi's storage technology businesses. Over the years, with the strong supports from the local governments and the great efforts of all the employees, the company has achieved both a steady business increase and a number of public awards.
Currently, Hitachi GST (Shenzhen) has more than one thousand employees. Its business scope includes manufacturing, processing and distributing for the information storage products which include the important components of PC hard disk drive and tape storage systems, such as media and tape modules. All of our products are state-of-the-art technology in the leading class of the industry.
In August 2003, its headquarter, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies announced to invest several hundred million dollars to move the majority of its global media manufacturing operations from its facilities in San Jose, California, USA and Odawara, Japan, to Hitachi GST (Shenzhen), making it the largest HDD industry investor in the region. And Hitachi GST (Shenzhen) now has become the first media manufacturing plant in China. In late 2004, Hitachi GST (Shenzhen) successfully made the first shipment of 65mm media to Hitachi’s hard disk drive facilities in Thailand. At full production, the facility will have the ability to produce and ship media to Hitachi assembly facilities in Singapore, China, Thailand and the Philippines for use in every type of hard disk drive produced by Hitachi GST.
